Plan a Day in Ellijay, GA: Build Your Itinerary

The short answer

The Gilmer Chamber puts Ellijay about 90 minutes north of Atlanta, in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Pick a date in the planner below and it builds your day around what is actually open: Gilmer Arts and museum hours, dated events, seasonal closures and apple season, which runs June through November. Apple Festival weekends are the busiest; the 2026 festival ran October 10–11 and 17–18.

Facts checked October 17, 2026 Ellijay, Georgia (Gilmer County seat, in the north Georgia mountains), not East Ellijay, which is a separate city next door
