What this site is
Downtown Ellijay is an independent guide to Ellijay, Georgia, and Gilmer County: the square, the events calendar, the rivers, the lake and what it’s like to live here. It is not an official site. It is not affiliated with the City of Ellijay, Gilmer County, the Gilmer County Chamber, the Downtown Development Authority, the Georgia Apple Festival or the downtownellijay.com directory. Those organizations have the final word on their own events and services, and we link to them throughout.
How we source
Every date, hour, fee and figure on this site links to where we read it, and pages show the date the facts were last checked. We prefer primary sources: the organizer, the city, the county, Georgia State Parks, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Census Bureau. When only a secondary source exists, we say so. When sources disagree, we say which one we used and why. When something isn’t published, such as a parade date or downtown parking rules, we say that rather than guess.
